More new and sparkly things...*whoopsy*

Ciao,

I have almost definitely turned into a magpie, I have obtained so many shiny new things over the past week that I may as well sprout wings and start building a nest! Today I finished lectures at 11 am so decided to go into town with my besty, mainly to spend my Christmas money but also for an opticians appointment...new, sparkly things were bound to happen!

1. New glasses - I have worn glasses since the age of 7 and so have had my fair share of spectacles over the years! I was actually kinda dreading the appointment as I knew I was gonna need new glasses and was worried about how big a hole they were going to burn in my pocket! However, I managed to get my new facial furniture and prescription sunnies for 125 quid! I will upload piccies when I get them next week!

2. Bag numero uno - a bag I have been lusting after since before Christmas. It has a tassel and loads of pockets! I love it. At £40 it's a pretty good price and from River Island.

 3. Bag numero due - this brown drawstring bag with cut out detailing in tan brown which I think is really cute! It was a complete steal at only £10 from Matalan.

4. Black feather necklace - I was so shocked to find this in Matalan, I saw a burgundy version in Dorothy Perkins which was selling for £10 and I loved it, I bought it in the sales for a fiver which was great although one of my feathers has now snapped :( Imagine my surprise when I saw it in black in Matalan for a quid, I kid you not a quid! I HAD to have it!

5. Black & white feather earrings - they were selling for 50p and matched the necklace. Can't say no to that sort of bargain! I almost bought them in dark blue and orange as well!

6. Monochrome striped peplum dress - I tried this on not really expecting much as I always find the peplum part of the dress always falls at the wrong place on me but I was pleasantly surprised! It fits me perfectly and doesn't make me look like an elephant and was only £15! I just love when that happens!

7. Black dress - I originally picked this up cause of its length, I'm 5 foot 9" and it seems that the majority of dresses with the exception of maxi's are not made for us tall girls. I'm not complaining about having long legs but not everybody suits the shorter length dresses especially if you carry weight on your legs like I do and have a bum that sticks out so far the dresses no longer leave much to the imagination! So I liked that this dress was longer and actually covers my knees and with a belt on actually makes me look slimmer! Again RESULT! It's only £12 and comes in more than one colour which I plan on purchasing at a later date! It looks pretty shapeless in the picture but I shall do an OOTD so you can see it in better circumstances.

8. Belt - I bought this belt purely for the black dress I just mentioned. The dress wouldn't hang as nicely with a thicker belt and I liked the gold metal bow clasp and the width. It was £4 from Matalan.

I have also ordered a bag from Accessorize which they didn't have in store and will post a pic when it arrives!

I think that will last me a good while until I need another shopping fix!

Ciao for now...

All things new & sparkly...

So I became slightly like a magpie this weekend, I have collected several new things this weekend in various shapes and sizes.

1. Brand new beds - this sounds random so I shall explain. I have shared my bedroom with my younger sister since I was around 6 or 7, so for the best part of 15 years! We have always had bunk beds but now I'm almost 21 and my sister is 15 they seem somewhat childish, plus I have now decided that after my year abroad I am going to move back in with my parents (eek) at which point I will be 22 and a half and my sister will be about to turn 17 so single beds seemed much more grown up. They arrived on Friday and my Dad and brother built them and are uber cute! They are the first step to us redecorating our room which I'm going to blog as it gets done.

2. New bedding. With new beds comes new bedding :D. I found some beautifully cute bed in a bag sets in Sainsbury's in the sale which matched our new chosen colour scheme perfectly. They're actually kids sets but i love them!

3. Trainers. I plan to start running so I bought myself some running trainers again in the sale but when I got them home today and went to try them on I realised the website have sent me size 7 instead of size 6 :'( wahhhh!!

4. Most excitingly of all the very contraption I am writing this blog on......brace yourselves....my iPad mini! My parents decided to buy this for me as my 21st birthday present and even though its not for another 5 weeks they said I could have it early as I want to use it for good ol' uni work!

So an extremely spoilt weekend!

Random end note but Saturday would have been my Grandad's 82nd birthday, so sending him my love even though he's been gone 17 years. Sunday was my Grandma's 77th birthday, we had a lovely high tea for her and a little owl cake! Grandparent love! <3

Things I love Thursday

So I rather enjoyed writing this post last week so I think I'm going to make it a regular feature on my blog...

1. Hot chocolate..with lots of cream, I'm salivating just writing this. It's such a treat when it's so cold and wintery outside which brings me to point number 2...

2. Snow, I LOVE snow. It's just so pretty, although I have to say I no longer have the desire to run around having snowball fights and building snowmen but I did go for a two hour long walk at like 11 at night which was pretty cool. Snow is so much more beautiful when you aren't worried someone is about to throw a gigantic snowball in your face.

3. My uni in the snow. Now I haven't actually revealed this yet but............I go to HOGWARTS! Well okay not really but close enough! It's just too frigging beautiful!

4. Innocent Smoothie bottles, now as much as the actual smoothies inside them are yummy and nutritious, the bottles are just so funny. I have always loved Innocent, especially when they were making the little hats for the bottles, TOO cute but I have never looked at the actual bottles in that much detail...until today.

Firstly I noticed this:

Very funny. Then my friend pointed out this...

I couldn't get it really clear as it's a transparent bottle but it says 'The end is nigh'
So much thought in one little bottle. Love it.

5. My friend Kat because she supports my blog writing and I have convinced her to start her own. Also cause she's awesome and gives me dried apple and other delights and makes me study. Plus she wants to be a guest feature on my blog.

Ciao for now...xx

Things I Love Thursday: <3

This is a blog that does what it says on the tin..a short blog about a few things I love at the moment!

1. Wotsits....NOM! Favourite crisps at the moment and have been for a while. Cheesy crisps for the win!

2. Feeling organised...since my last blog I have improved upon my procrastination issues and last night did ALL of my preparation for todays lectures...Which means while on my hour break I have been able to eat and write this little blog!

3. My pink and white polka dot, strawberry smelling nails. Yes you heard right strawberry smelling! More on this later...May write a blog but all you need to know they are uber cute, think Minnie Mouse.

4. Twitter...anything that means a human gets to tweet is good in my book. Plus celeb stalking. Need I say more.

4. My lovely friend Kat who is sitting next to me in our uni library and may or may not have just eaten a wotsit off the floor...I cannot reveal this information.

Bad Habits...

Ciao,

So uni started again this week and I have moved back into my very cold uni house! As well as moving back into my house I have reverted back into my comfortable but not so productive habits. Ahhh good ol' student life! I am not afraid to admit that I can be veryyyyy lazy and before I took up blogging I would say my hobby was either working or sleeping ridiculous amounts...obviously I can only partake in one or the other at one time. The start of the new term a mere 3 days ago has already revived several of my bad habits, whoops.

Catching some z's:
Now if sleeping was an Olympic sport I would win Gold. At every single Olympics. EVER. Luckily for me uni has a very forgiving timetable, excluding homework hours which of course are used for anything but studying which I will come to later on in this blog. With a small timetable of 11 hours a week, which is actually fairly big compared to many other students, and my drastically cut down hours at work I am afforded the luxury of tonnes of free time! Now a lot of people would use this time to get things done, me? I sleep. And I sleep. And I sleep. I sleep so much I make myself tired! Yes! That is possible. Its a ridiculous habit that I really need to break but I mean how can you resist your bed, pillows, duvets and extreme warmness.

Being a messy Mildred!:
I am messy much to the annoyance of my neat freak cleaner Mum! However, as I always like to point out to her there is a major difference between being messy and being dirty. I am definitely not the latter. Yuck. My bedroom is my haven, I have photos and tonnes of pretty ornaments everywhere and I think it looks really homely...when it's tidy. My bedroom has tendencies to turn into what is commonly known as a 'floordrobe'. Clothes create so much mess and yes I am blaming them and not my lack of tidying. Don't tell my you dont agree?! If my room isn't covered in discarded tops and socks and what have you, it's cluttered with a clothes horse drying my washing. Hrumph! It's a never ending cycle! I have so many clothes they take over and within a day of being back in my uni house my room was overrun with those pesky bits of fabric! Whoops! So being messy is bad habit number two, but my excuse is there is always better things to do then tidy up...like sleeping ;)

Procrastinate, procrastinate & procrastinate some more:
Now procrastination,  I think the worst of my bad habits. My ultimate form of laziness. I will and do leave all my uni work to the VERY last minute possible. Now I am still undecided as to whether this helps or hinders me with my uni work. I find it very hard to concentrate on writing essays and assignments when there are so many more interesting things to do like blogging! Therefore I always leave my essays to the last minute, I always hand them in on time and I nearly always do relatively well (touch wood) and recently got my first First, so is procrastination really so bad? This week I have two assignments due in on Friday and I am yet to start either of them. Today instead I tidied my room, listened to music and am now writing a blog. As Homer Simpson says "DOH". I'm sure I'll learn sooner or later...knowing me it'll be later!

I don't think they're the worst habits I could have and apparently it takes 21 days to make or break a habit...maybe I'll break them one day...when I get round to it. So what are your bad habits?

I think that's enough of me revealing my bad habits...stay tuned for my next blog which I have decided will most definitely be about Viva Forever which I am so excited to see on Friday!! EEK! So in the immortal words of the Spice Girls..."If you wanna be my lover subscribe to my blog...". Don't question me, I'm a 90's kid that's definitely how it goes.

Ciao for now!

Happy New Year!!

Ciao,

Firstly Happy New Year!! Can't believe it's here again and that Christmas has been and gone already. Our house has been stripped bare of Christmas spirit and it has all been stored away until that wonderful time of year comes around again. Is it too early to start the countdown??

Christmas this year was a mixture of both lovely and sad family moments. As always I was well and truly blessed to spend the day with my wonderful family, eating food and exchanging presents. It was especially lovely to have my cousins little girl here, children always increase the magical feeling at Christmas time. However, Christmas day was blighted by sadness for my Dad and his family. Sadly on Christmas Day, Terry, my Dad's younger cousin passed away. His death came as a massive shock to us all, although I have only met him a handful of times as he lived in a special home for people with Down's Syndrome and other mental disabilities on the Isle of Wight, I was shocked to hear the news. I am dedicating this blog post to Terry and his family who had to deal with losing such a treasured person on Christmas Day.

This leads me to New Years, I was lucky enough to spend the last few moments of 2012 and the first few of 2013 with most of my closest friends and my little sister. We had a night at my uni house playing the newest Just Dance on the wii, drinking, singing and most importantly laughing. My brother wasn't with me so naturally me and my sister called him up just after 12 and were greeted with a very very intoxicated brother who proceeded to repeatedly tell us he loved us. Now as cliché as that sounds, is it such a bad thing? Shouldn't we all be calling people just to tell them we love them regardless of the time of year or our state of soberness? I'm not a believer in New Year resolutions, I think if change needs to be made it should be made as and when it is needed, not because it's January 1st! Same goes for telling people you love them, it should be said all year round. Who knows, telling someone you love them just randomly could make their day, it could make their week, it could restore their faith in humanity if they're having a really bad time. I cannot think of a single negative thing about simply telling someone you love them, I mean who doesn't like to be told that they're loved?? Spread the love in 2013!

So what will 2013 have in store? 2012 was a huge year for Britain...the Olympics were my personal highlight! I was lucky enough to be involved, even if it was only as a cleaner in the Rowing Village! But 2013 has much more in store for me personally, in precisely 3 months and 9 days I will turn 21... EEK! The saying is 'Key to the door, never been 21 before' but this year I am getting a key to the world. I am going on my year abroad which in many ways is my reason for starting this blog! In July I will be leaving for Gascony for 2 months, then on to Lyon and finally off to Italy. I will be gone a year and as daunting as this is I am unbelievably excited! So on that note I wish you all a very happy New Year, I hope you have many new experiences and spend another year being happy.

Ciao for now...

Dedicated to Terry Appleton and Jordan Bartlett. Angels taken in 2012. <3
